When you open your account and order any services from us we need to know your name, address, telephone number and email address. This allows us to process and fulfil your order, send account related documents by post when necessary, send product and service invoices including automated renewal reminders by email and also send email newsletters to you containing information about our product and service updates. We may telephone you in emergencies (i.e. In the event that we spot any irregular or suspicious activity on your account), or if it is necessary to help with the provision of any support requests you submit to us. We may also use your telephone number to call you as part of our customer services strategy for informal surveys to check you are happy with the service we provide. (We will never use your telephone number to solicit tactical sales calls to you.)
Where your order contains domain name registration requests, your registration details including name/business name, address, telephone number, email address and required domain name, will be passed on to all relevant naming authorities as required so your domain name may be successfully registered to you. (i.e. Nominet who oversee all .uk domain name registrations.) Your details may be passed on to naming authorities outside of the European Union in the event that you request a domain name with an extension under the control of another country. In all cases, your details will be entered on a ‘Whois’ database which may be searchable by anyone anywhere in the world.
We ask you to provide us with a security question and answer and also your date of birth. We use these details for the sole purpose of verifying your identity in the event that you need to telephone us to ask for specific information relating to your account.
We do not sell, rent or lease your personal information with any third party for commercial or other reasons.
We follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us to prevent unauthorised access in accordance with UK data protection legislation. We do not collect sensitive information about you except when you specifically knowingly provide it. In order to maintain the accuracy of our database you can check, update or remove your personal details by accessing the “Your account” section of the customer centre area.
We use a technology called “cookies” as part of a normal business procedure to allow you to login to your account. Simply Eddie’s uses reputable well known third party payment services in order to process credit/debit card transactions and therefore we never see or store any of your credit/debit card details.
